Best selling author of He's Just Not That Into You calls into the podcast this week. Due to weather we couldn't get together, so we threw together a best of interview segment that includes Bill Burr, Adam Carolla, Anthony Cumia, Jim Norton, Pete Holmes and more.
Episode 71 is here with a super duper double feature! Brian Posehn (Seinfeld, Just Shoot Me, Comedians of Comedy) and Chip Chantry (Philly's Phunniest 2013 Winner) are our fun time special guests this week.
Brian is headlining Helium Comedy Club in Philly starting tonight through Saturday. Brian is known for being a gigantic (6'7") comic book nerd and metal head. He's been seen on tons of sitcoms including Seinfeld, Just Shoot Me and Friends and has appeared in dozens of movies as well (Fantastic Four, Devil's Rejects). Since this is our second time talking to Brian (old episode can be found here), we skipped the boring "how did you decide to become a comedian" talk and jumped right into the Deadpool talk. This was mostly because Shelton was geeking out over it and I only wanted to talk about speed metal with Brian, so it seemed like the smartest thing to do in the interest of our hilarious guest. Anyhoo, Brian also talks about his new and how it's all new material, but the same self hatred and love for fart jokes. He's also creating a metal comedy album with Scott Ian from Antrax and some other comedy legends!
For more on Brian go to his website, check him out on Twitter and be sure to head out to Helium this weekend for one of his shows.
Chip Chantry joins us "in-studio" for the entire episode. Chip tells us all about winning Philly's Phunniest last year, being roommates with other comedians and gives us some great insight into some hilarious headlines we covered this week. Chip is headlining Helium in Philly as well on November 19th with special guest Mary Radzinski and Jim Ginty and there will definitely be a surprise or two for the audience during his set. Chip is going to join us much more often, so get used to his dulcet tones tickling your tympanic membrane. Chip is truly one of the best follows on Twitter period. @chipchantry
Topics this week include:
Ray MacDonald is free abuse domestically again which makes the 49ers smart for playing him along?
A divorced man drives his ex-wife's 1990 Corvette into the Delaware River
Bill Cosby's Twitter snafu
Our NFL picks for the weekend
Male catcalling videos are the new black
Our lightning round is back with a vengeance due to popular demand as we attempt not to talk over each other. Obviously there is no shortage of subjects this week, so we touch on everything sports and pop culture. We also have a call from Jerrod Carmichael!
Jerrod Carmichael is a LA based standup comedian, actor and writer most known for his role in the blockbuster Seth Rogen and Zac Efron comedy Neighbors. He's one of the single hottest comedians in the circuit right now (Variety's Top Ten Comedians to Watch) and he's currently in the pilot stage of his own NBC sitcom in which he will write and star in. His HBO Special "Love at the Store" airs October 4th at 10PM and you can watch a preview of it here. He can be seen one night only at Helium Comedy Club in Philadelphia on September 24th at 8PM. This show will sell out, so get your tickets now!
This week we have Gilbert Gottfried call in for a celebration of the 25th anniversary of the debut of USA's Up All Night. Not really, but we do bring up how T&A movies with the T&A cut out still passed as sexy to a ten year old boy in the pre-internet days. They were like moving lingerie catalogs.
Obviously Patrick talks about Ray Rice ad nauseum, Shelton sums up his feelings about Joan Rivers' death, and Jay silently refills his cognac glass while the guys talk about football.
Gilbert will be at Helium Philadelphia this Thursday through Saturday, tickets for that and more can be found at heliumcomedy.com and you can find Glibert's new podcast at gilbertgottfried.com. Oh, and he's got a new book, "Rubber Balls and Liquor" which can also be found on his website or wherever fine books are sold.
Our string of amazing guests continues with Pete Holmes!!!! Pete is most notable for the Pete Holmes Show that followed Conan on TBS and was sadly cancelled recently, but he is still touring the country selling out theaters and clubs around the world.
We were lucky enough to have Pete call into the Comedy, Food, Sports Podcast to talk about making peace with the cancellation, working on his new hour special, what's next for him and what people can expect from him this weekend at Helium Comedy Club here in Philly (two shows Friday & Saturday).
The rest of the episode is filled with Shelton's QB hatred, randomness and more randomness.
Be sure to check out Pete this weekend at Helium and stayed tuned for what we have planned at the Philly Podfest in a couple of weeks.
Also, Jay and Shelton sat in with the Black Tribbles to talk about the do's and don'ts of podcasting. Search iTunes or Stitcher for Black Tribbles to check it out.
The one and only Anthony Cumia formerly of Opie & Anthony calls into the podcast this week to talk about getting kicked off the air for a Tweet, plugging his new show The Anthony Cumia Show, and all around gives us twenty minutes of brilliance! His show starts on August 4th and will be live from 4pm to 6pm EST Monday through Thursday and randomly on at other times and will be both audio and video. Go to https://www.anthonycumia.com/ for more info and follow him on Twitter.
I can't recommend listening to this episode enough! Anthony has something really amazing going on and everyone gets to be a part of it on the ground floor.
Also, Matt McCusker calls into the podcast for a quick interview. Matt won Philly's Phunniest Contest at Helium Comedy Club.
We ramble about comic-con and Donald Sterling before, during and after all of this.
We have a very special guest (I know) in studio for this episode, Top Chef 11 victor Nicholas Elmi wastes some of his rare free time answering our stupid questions about reality shows. Visit http://www.restaurantlaurel.com/ to learn more about his highly regarded restaurant in Philly.
Patrick also did a call with Adam Cayton-Holland who is part of the "Road 2 Oddball" tour which is coming to Helium on May 21st. Click here for tickets: http://tinyurl.com/lgwyg93
His website is adamisfreakingoutnow.com and @caytonholland on Twitter. He's been on Conan, @Midnight and The Pete Holmes show and he's part of the comedy trio The Grawlix. He also threw out the first pitch for the Rockies this year.

It's free to sign up, and it makes us kind of feel like we're on a real radio station.
The Comedy, Food, Sports Podcast is back with two monster guests! Jim Florentine (That Metal Show) and Tammy Pescatelli (Last Comic Standing Season 2) call in this week.
Jim is coming to the Trocadero Theatre this Saturday for a live That Metal Show with Eddie Trunk and Don Jamieson along with a huge surprise guest. Jim talks about replay in baseball, doing sketches with Amy Schumer and of course a little Donald Sterling talk has to be mixed in.
Tammy is coming to the Keswick Theater as the headliner for Jenny McCarthy's Dirty, Sexy, Funny Tour. Tammy tells us about the heckler in Tampa that threw a glass at her, Donald Sterling and growing up with two brothers and eleven male cousins.
Due to the monsoon like weather, Jay could not make it out, so it's just me and Shelton talking way too much about basketball and shockingly very little about Donald Sterling.

The Holiday Special is here at last with comedy legend Tom Rhodes plus producer extraordinaire Jay returns!
Episode 51 is here and it's a doozy ya'll! Legendary comedian Tom Rhodes calls into the podcast to talk about his late night talk show in Amsterdam, having a career changing moment in the 90's with "Two Drink Minimum" and of course promotes his shows this week at Helium Comedy Club here in Philly (three shows New Year's eve and two shows a night on Jan. 2nd, 3rd and 4th). For more info on Tom, go to http://www.tomrhodes.net/ and go to http://www.heliumcomedy.com/ for ticket info.
Jay makes his triumphant return to the podcast by putting in a gem of a production job and adding all sorts of new topics that we all ramble on about. It was awesome to have Jay back and the final product really shows that.
This episode is one of our bests of the year and we're excited about some of the huge things happening for the Comedy, Food, Sports network.
Enjoy and stay tuned!!!
